Books and stuff

This year was not so good. I have not read a lot of books.
But the things i have read they were cool. Do you know series Discworld? Amazing series by Terry Pratchet. In my collection of books there are around 10 books from Discworld. Discworld is fantasy genre.
My favorite character is Death and his granddaughter.
I think on Sky they made two movies. First is Colour of Magic and second is Hogfathers. The second one is amazing, as for the Colour of Magic is so so. Soul music is cartoon. It is also amazing. I think Discworld series is need to read for every Fantasy fan.

Long time since I have written anything.
A lot of things happened since my last post.
I’ve changed my job.
My Friends from Netherlands were in Slovenia.
But thing i would like to present you is one fabulous show called Colbert Report. I must say it is really witty show which presents American life. American way of life in comedy. In some 22 minutes every time they present one or two topics. I must say he is hilarious.

Intro to Bosnia

I know, I know. It has been a long time since my last entry, but I had no time. Last week we have been to Bosnia for a road trip. As you may know, Bosnia was not so long ago in war. Remains of war can be found in all Bosnia. Damage due to war can be seen in all towns an villages. In my next entry i will post some pictures.
Our trip: Ljubljana – Banja Luka – Jajce – Mostar – Medžugorje – Sarajevo – Tuzla – Brčko – Ljubljana
It was cool. As I have written in this entry I hope that I will be able to write a longer entry this week.

BigBrother
Source: WikipediaAgain we can watch Big Brother on our television. Yes on Kanal A you can watch human social experiment, where you can take your pleasure on people in a cage. Nina Osenar is again leading the show. What a shock?! Now for three months there will nothing good on Kanal A. Luckily there is TV3 with some good TV shows like NCIS and good movies.
But I must say that PRO-Plus has had some good ideas for attracting people to watch their reality shows. There were Dream guy (Sanjski moški) and Dream Girl (Sanjska ženska), Bar and now Big Brother.
Mobile phones
Last weekend I was in theater and in cinema. After both shows, which ended around 22:00, first thing people did was check their mobile phones. The minute lights turned on, people were checking their mobile phones for SMS and missed calls. I understand if you check this after business meting and you are expecting calls but not on Friday and Saturday evening. If someone would call me during the shows, I would not call them back only if they would send me an SMS to call them as soon as possible or the would call me more than twice.
BASE jumping
While searching for perfect gift for my girl I came around a bunch of web-pages about BASE jumping. I must say very interesting but dangerous thing. Jumping from skyscrapers and antennas must be an ultimate high. But if I look at this from financial point of view it is very expensive. First you must be a good in regular sky diving (planes). I guess you need some good number of jumps, then there is also question of equipment (probably not cheap). At the moment you would like to start base jumping there I think in Slovenia there are few possibility’s for base jumping so you must go abroad to find your ultimate high.
Accidents are not unusual in this kind of sport. I give you some good jumps and some not so good ones.
Probably all BASE jumpers would like to be like Felix.
Job
In next few months I am changing my work place. From May or June I will finally start working in Ljubljana. My new employer will be UniCredit Bank. But there is still a desire to work in EU.
Janez is dead
Yes. The main topic of this weekend was death of our former prime minister . RIP Janez.
EU
While reading about EU I have realized that moste of you should know some facts about our European integration. Especially history of the EU. So here is short history.
ECSC is the first community founded in year 1951 (entered into force 1952)
EEC and EURATOM was founded in year 1957 (entered into force 1958)
Another important treaty was Merger Treaty in 1967
In 1973 was first enlargement of Community. UK, Ireland and Denmark joined Community.
As you may have noticed we have every 5 years elections of members for European Parliament. 1979 there were first elections before this year there were no direct elections.
In 1981 Greece joined EU and in 1986 Portugal and Spain.
Next big thing that happened in Europe was Single European Act signed in 1986 (entered into force 1987).
In Dutch Maastricht Treaty of European Union was signed (signed 1992/entered into force 1993)
Austria, Sweden and Finland joined Union in year 1995.
Amsterdam Treaty was signed in 1997 that entered into force in 1999.
Nice Treaty followed that was signed in 2001 and entered into force in 2003. Big step for Community was in year 2002 when Euro was introduced and year 2004. In that year 10 countries joined European Union (Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia). Next enlargement was in 2007 with Bulgaria and Romania. This was also the year when we in Slovenia changed our old currency for Euro, as was the year of signing of Lisbon Treaty. 2008 was big for Cyprus and Malta, they too joined Euro zone.
World spins and spins.
As you may know yesterday Fidel Castro has decided that he will no longer be president of Cuba. His rule was long about 50 years. For last few years he was sick and there were few TV appearance of him. I just say long live El Comandante. It is not like I support his regime, but I support him as a person. He was strong and great president, USA had no solution for him.
Second thing that happened this week is Kosovo. New country in hart of Balkan. It started in 80′s. Now we can only wait for Republika Srbska to become a country and maybe some other part of BiH or maybe also Macedonia. What to say? As I can see it, Kosovo is European Taiwan. Serbia will not recognise its independence as Russia. Do you see the similarity? China-Taiwan. I remeber a song from Zaklonišče prepeva: Žitije Miće Muriquia, a song about Kosovo. There is no video on youtube. There is one similar. Enjoy.

Yes, this is my first post. I have been using http://spaces.live.com/ and I am not satisfied with it anymore. So from now on there will be some of my thoughts on this page.
I think this is what I am going to write today. Maybe I will copy my last post from my former blog, about Kosovo an El Comandante.
